1)      Motivate and encourage Teens to read more

2)      Motivate and encourage Children age 12 and under to read more

4)      Develop and manage a website to promote APPLE and literacy with links to literacy sites, information on club meetings, book exchange box locations for "Take a Book-Leave a Book", volunteer opportunities, and more

Objectives:

Foster a passion for reading by youth through

1)      Providing an opportunity for youth to exchange books free of check-out policies and return policies, other than if one takes a book, they must leave a book

2)      Providing books of a wide-assortment that are age appropriate and exciting to youth

3)      Providing books in easy-to-access locations

4)      Encouraging teens to read to younger children through a Teen Mentoring program

5)      Involving as many students as possible in the program through participation in the book exchange, club and mentor reading
6)      To have a website that is useful in promoting literacy and the activities of A.P.P.L.E.

We enjoy having displays on literacy and explaining the importance of reading. This was a display at the Silver City Public Library that was in place for two months during early fall.
