"CLIMB-For the Love of Art and Read for Joy" by Serina-- Program expands!

Workshop held October 5th. Through this creative literacy workshop held by Serina, children created art after reading the book "Mahalia, the Mouse, Goes to College." The special art will be showcased at the Weekend At the Galleries art show at Alotta Gelata Columbus Day Weekend. ( Event sponsorsed by the Mimbres Region Arts Council.)
Serina coordinated activities for this special workshop with the MRAC, and other leaders in the community. Each child received a free book, thanks to support by Literacy Link Leamos. Each child also received a free watercolor set and will have their art work mounted and matted, displayed in special art show, then created into a calendar that will have the art with information on literacy games. Thanks to the Kiwanis Club of Silver City for making this possible so that is free to the children.
More workshops planned. For information on workshops, call Silver City Radio 575-538-3396.

What's Been Happening this Fall!
September was Exciting for APPLE at
"Red Hot Children's Fiesta"
Thanks is given to the Grant County Health Council and all of their work that made this event possible for our community. More than 2000 people came to the fiesta. We especially want to thank Literacy Link Leamos for dontaing over 200 reading magazines to our project, where at our booth, during the fiesta, we passed out the reading materical to children. We also did face painting and coloring activities while promoting literacy with our display and talking to others. Thanks to the members of the APPLE Reading and Writing Club who came over after their meeting to help with booth activities.
